Five on Friday

Happy Friday, friends! This week has flown by and I couldn't be happier. I'm looking forward to a couple days off of work. Corey's parents will be coming into town later tonight and before they arrive I'll be stopping by the Lilly Pulitzer store at Southpark Mall for a styling party hosted by the lovely Caitlin. Today I'm linking up with April, Christina, Natasha, and Darci for another fabulous Friday. I'm currently loving...

1. Extra sleep. The number one thing I'm loving is sleeping a little later tomorrow and Sunday. Y'all - I am exhausted! I have circles under my eyes that rival the worst of bruises from too much work and too little sleep the last couple weeks.
2. Goddess salad dressing from Trader Joe's. I'm usually a balsamic kind of girl however I've been just kind of burnt out on it lately. So when Corey and I were in Trader Joe's last weekend I went on a hunt for a new salad dressing. A super helpful associate recommended this one and I am totally obsessed. Its slightly tangy and just delicious. Grab a bottle for yourself a.s.a.p.

3. Glade's Pumpkin Spice candle. I've been meaning to stop by Bath and Body Works to pick up a fall candle but things have been so hectic lately that I just grabbed this one when I was in Target the other day and I am loving it. It smells just like when my pumpkin bread is baking.

4. Our house's foundation. We had a meeting with our builder last night and so of course we drove by our lot. Lots of progress has been made since last weekend. They were finishing pouring our foundation while we were there yesterday which is so, so exciting. It will be framed at the end of next week.

5. Fall TV. I am so happy that Fall TV has returned. I was so excited to watch Grey's last night and am looking forward to the return of Scandal and Revenge over the next week, too. What fall TV shows are you looking forward to?

Happy Friday, girls!

We need your votes!

My class has an open project awaiting funding from Donor's Choose and Limeades for Learning. Our project is about to expire and has not been funded yet. I am asking for mentor texts - books to help teach writing. My students attend a Title I school in a small town in South Carolina and the majority of them qualify for free and reduced lunch. Many of my students do not have exposure to quality books at home. They would benefit so much from having these resources in our classroom. Please vote for our project. You can vote once per day per email address and it really only takes a moment. Click here to vote. Thank you times a million!

What I'm Wearing Wednesday

Happy Wednesday, girls. Even though I've been totally m.i.a. around these parts lately, I've been snapping away those OOTD's. Here's a few of my recents...

What I'm wearing for work:
This was my first day of school outfit. Lilly Clare dress from several years ago. I still LOVE it. It is so, so comfy.

Top: J.Crew factory, Necklace: Red Dress Boutique, Pants: Loft, Sandals: Lilly

I love this outfit and only wore it to work once before labor day. Maybe I'll remember to wear it more in the spring.
Tunic: Lilly (via Re-Lilly), Pants: Express

What I'm wearing for fun:
Top: Julie's Boutique Charlotte, Shorts: Express, Sandals: Lilly, Necklace: Loft

This is Loft's "Little Black Dress" romper. I love how easy and comfy it is. Its short though, which I think is appropriate since it is actually shorts but the photo does look like I'm wearing a super, super short dress. Ha!

I paired it with this necklace from Pink Pineapple shop. I love this necklace and know I'll wear it a lot in the fall and winter.

Weekend Happenings

Happy Monday, friends! I hope you all had a great weekend. I stayed at school until almost 5:30 on Friday but when I left, I left with absolutely nothing to do over the weekend. It was a good, good feeling as that has not happened yet this year. My big request for a weekend with no responsibilities? To keep things low key and as relaxed as possible.

On Friday, we grilled out and just relaxed. I went to bed surprisingly early and felt so much better when I woke up on Saturday. We ate breakfast at one of our favorite spots, Art's, on Saturday morning and then I forced Corey to drive by our new neighborhood on our way back to our apartment. I make him do this pretty much every Saturday. Its been just a patch of dirt every time we've been by but Saturday we noticed some progress - which had me giddy for the rest of the day.

We headed back to the apartment and picked up Riley to take him to the Whitewater Center for a hike. The weather was finally nice enough that he could walk without getting too overheated.

We rewarded ourself for our workout with a stop at the Biergarten afterwards. I had my first pumpkin beer of the season, which made me a happy, happy girl.

We cooked at home on Saturday night and had some wine. It was a perfect, relaxing evening after weeks and weeks of craziness. On Sunday, my sweet hubby helped me clean every inch of our apartment for the guests we will be hosting the next two weekends. Then, we headed to Midwood Smokehouse for some barbecue. For something we missed so much when we lived in New Jersey, we really haven't had much barbecue since we returned.

Then, on our way home I spotted this sign.
We were actually on our way to get a Pumpkin Spice Latte across the street at Starbucks when the Rita's sign caught my eye. I just knew I had to have a gelati, which is the Italian ice and custard blend. I would get these maybe 3 or 4 times a year when we lived in New Jersey but they were so, so good so I knew I had to take advantage of the opportunity since we haven't seen many Rita's here.

Corey dragged me to a sporting goods store on our way home from lunch and I spotted a Michael's in the same shopping center so I popped in to pick up some supplies for my fall wreath. My mom and I got this owl with the intention of making a fall wreath for my old townhouse in Greenville and then I just never got around to it so I spend the rest of my afternoon crafting and relaxing with my hubby and a certain fluffy pup.
Now, our front door is ready for fall. Bring on the fall weather.

What was the highlight of your weekend?

Monday Randoms

Happy Monday, friends! I don't think I've ever gone so long without writing a post. Life has been insanely busy lately so the idea of picking up my personal computer when I get home from work has just not sounded appealing at all. The first two weeks of school are now behind us and we're all starting to get adjusted to our routine. I am enjoying my class this year and loving my new school. The only thing I'm not loving is that I've had so many afternoon meetings that I feel like I haven't seen my husband in ages.

Last weekend we headed to Clemson for the Clemson/UGA game. This was lots of fun spending time with some friends we hadn't seen in a while.
We stayed in Greenville and had brunch at Blue Ridge Brewery with some old friends and even took a quick drive by Corey's old house and my old townhome, which of course made me feel totally nostalgic. My only regret with the weekend was when I stopped in a boutique downtown and fell in love with this perfectly "Elizabeth" tunic. We were running late to meet friends so I knew I would have to come back to try it on after. And then I totally forgot. If you live in the Greenville area and would like to pick it up and ship it to me, you will be my new best friend.

Having the long weekend made me feel a lot better after a crazy first full week. Then, I woke up on Tuesday morning to head to work and my car wouldn't start. If you're a teacher you know this is a moment of shear panic. Not only was I worried about what was wrong with it but I was worried about who would greet my 5th graders at the door. Luckily, my husband came to the rescue and lent me his car for the day until I had time to call AAA that evening.

In other news, the return of the Pumpkin Spice Latte has really made my life lately. Especially as it is necessary for me to drink abut 15 cups of coffee during the work week to make it through the beginning of the year chaos.

I think this little guy has almost forgotten who I am. When I'm at home he won't leave my side. He even follows me into the bathroom. I think he's afraid every time I leave the room I'll disappear for 12 hours. Which makes sense since that happens five days every week. We've been trying to give him extra snuggles and take him on lots of long walks.

You know the expression, "when it rains, it pours?" I feel like its been pouring lately a lot in terms of customer service issues - problems with our apartment, problems getting Best Buy's Geek Squad to fix our brand new dryer, problems with my car, and of course the icing on the cake was when my third Jack Rogers broke the other day!  I'm feeling the need for a vacation. Or at least a spa weekend.

Hopefully I'll be more present this week with reading your blogs and keeping up with my own. I'm still here - everything is just crazy and hectic right now. Hopefully things are a lot calmer where you are. Happy Monday, friends.
